Self State Connector

Connect your Mac

The Self State Connector is a small background helper. It lets your agents run tasks on this Mac with the agent apps you already use, such as Codex, Claude Code, Gemini CLI and Grok. It needs a Mac with Apple silicon.

  1. Step 1

    Open Terminal

Press Command-Space, type Terminal, and press Return.

  2. Step 2

    Paste the install command

It shows what it will do and asks before installing.

    curl -fsSL https://selfstate.si/install/connector.sh | sh
  3. Step 3

Enter the code from your phone

In Self State on your phone, open Computer and tap Connect a computer. Type the 8-character code, then check that your phone and the Mac show the same six-digit number before you approve.

What gets installed

The Connector
In ~/Library/Application Support/Self State Connector, with its own copy of the Node.js runtime. Nothing outside your user folder.
A background service
A LaunchAgent named ai.kaizenstrategic.selfstate.connector that starts when you log in. Logs are in ~/Library/Logs/Self State Connector.
Your connection
A file only your user can read, holding this Mac’s connection to your workspace. It is not your password.
Download check
The installer checks the download’s SHA-256 before it installs anything. This early version is not yet signed or notarized by Apple.

Permissions

  • No administrator password and no sudo. It installs for your user only.
  • It does not record or share your screen, and asks for no Screen Recording, Accessibility or Full Disk Access permission.
  • It connects out to selfstate.si over HTTPS. It does not open ports on your Mac.
  • Tasks run with your user’s access, in a working folder inside the Connector’s folder, using the agent apps you installed and signed in to. Agent app sign-ins stay on this Mac. API keys you add in Self State are stored encrypted in your workspace and sent to this Mac only for the task that uses them.

If it stops

The Mac must be awake and logged in. To restart the Connector, paste:

"$HOME/Library/Application Support/Self State Connector/current/bin/selfstate-connector" restart

To run it in a Terminal window instead of the background (useful if an agent app works in Terminal but not in the background), paste the command below and keep the window open.

"$HOME/Library/Application Support/Self State Connector/current/bin/selfstate-connector" run

Remove it

This stops the service and deletes the Connector, its saved connection and its logs:

curl -fsSL https://selfstate.si/install/connector.sh | sh -s -- --uninstall

Then remove the computer in Self State on your phone (Computer, then Remove this computer) so its access is revoked too.

The Self State Mac app

The Mac app is a separate download for using your workspace on the Mac. It does not run your agents’ tasks; the Connector does.
